The Fundación Arquitectura y Sociedad is a private non-profit cultural foundation with a national and international projection. With offices in Pamplona and Madrid, it was instituted in 2008 on the initiative of Francisco Mangado, an architect keen on promoting architecture as a field indissolubly linked to life and society.

The Foundation aims to position itself as a reference of avant-garde analysis and debate in a field that has been gaining in social presence and significance, becoming the mirror of a country’s development. The Foundation, currently organizing an international Congress of high level which you can examine in www.arquitecturaysociedad.com, is setting agreements with public and private institutions, universities, companies, and peer organizations as well as other associations and institutes, whether national or international.

The INTERNATIONAL ULTZAMA CAMPUS took place between July 29th to July 31th, 2010, at the facilities of the Centro Hípico Ultzama in Pamplona, Navarre, (Spain), sponsored by Miguel Hualde, and Figueras, benefactors of the Fundación Arquitectura y Sociedad. The seminar was directed by Félix Arranz, architect and editor.

During three days, nine international young architects, already involved in their professional work and, at the same time, in the development of their academic researches within Master and PhD Programs, met and shared their manifestos and their principles as architects through a series of conversations and discussions on their perception of cities and models for future occupation of the territory, based on people’s mobility.

Participants of those talks included the trustees of the Fundación Arquitectura y Sociedad, representatives of international media and a table of international cultural experts, architects and curators like Juan Herreros, Jorge Silvetti and Wilfried Wang, among others. Scalae will document the dialogues and the meeting, through the work of Ethel Baraona.
